Everyday is sad and gray, 
Since my fortune washed away
There’s nothing my heart wants to say, 
In all the records that they play

Maybe God is weeping because 
Last night while he was sleeping
An enemy came from a company name 
And they poisoned the rain that we’re drinking

I felt it since my birth, 
But can’t explain the way that it tasted
sadness filled the earth 
Until a verse came and replaced it

With light to dry our circuits 
When the breakers all went berserk
And then our hearts stopped, 
Tremble for second in a circle 
Then wait for the bomb drop

Now I can feel it all closing in, 
melancholy cloud that controls my friends
It’s heavy from a childhood, we’ve all been, 
Raised under lines in the sky that swim

Through currents that gave auras 
Just like the few that came before us
They offered up advice but still 
We ran toward what floored us

What did you expect from a bloody nose kid, 
Deaf to the lines that adults forbid
You never felt pain till you heard the skid, 
Of the tires, and your bare feet, and where we lived

I thought that we grew up 
Because the clouds all went away
For seven years of sunshine 
But now they’ve all returned to stay

Can we repay our youthful sins 
With notches in our summer skin
Blind to times of our future crimes 
Until the bricks came loose and destroyed our spines

Dancing holding hands and making wishes
Pronouncing the love they found 
And coloring with graceful switches

I’d die just to trade their place, 
Then I’d have something good to say
