Swallowed by the Night

I wish we could be swallowed by the whales–
just a couple of fish inside the living ship we'd sail.
I wish we could be swallowed by the night–
just a couple of stars a part of constellation light.

I'm just looking for a perfect sentence to keep us alive.

Swallowed by the night:

A constellation dipping into our head, taking us in our sleep,
leaving behind just a dead pile of blankets and sheets.

I wish we could be swallowed by the sky–
just a couple of wings and wax that tried to fly too high.
I wish we could be swallowed by the moon–
just a couple of astronauts who won't be coming home soon.
