I'm not a poet - I just hear a million phrases in my head
 I spin around while people lie so peacefully in their beds

 Then in the candlelight I play the piano and I hear my name
 I'm coming home - It's something like a wonder that I can't explain

 I could never sacrifice my tears to win a senseless fight
 I wouldn't know of beauty if I hadn't ever dared to cry

 I slip into my shadow to become someone who writes a song
 I've got no science so I need the heart to be myself and strong
