Precious Cargo

I’m watching the wreck through rose-tinted specs
I prepared for the trip
So long to go.
Run out of road.
Lose control or grind to a halt.

Start clearing the mess, the bits and pieces of what’s left blow away
Don’t want to play
These jigsaw games puzzle me.
Maybe should be driving slowly.

If we should crash hang on to me
Superhero that I can be
I’ll take your hand and lead the way
From the fire we can escape
So we live to see another day.
