Up with the smoke - down with the ash

I saw the animal six as a silhuette fixed on the back wall
I turned my body around so I could face the sound of the cat’s call
The broken window was shaking and my bones were aching to follow the trail
Where the curtains were torn by the claws and the horns I saw the sweep of the nine tails

Through the shimmering light I stumbled into the nights  empire
And with the spark in my hand I followed blood in the sand to the bonfire

Wind from the coastline blows cross the highs and the lows turning wolves into sheep
Just when the skyline quakes, clouds fall into the lake, stars are lost in the deep
Trombones and tamburines play, big sound makes everything sway
Vision blurred by the heat, bodies are chained to the beat

Breaking the loop, I saw the birdmen swoop down for prey
Their beaks in my back I heard the branches crack as they flew me away
