A New Soldier Follows The Path Of A New King IV

For days I've been confined to this plank-bed
Enduring in my own sweat and in my own blood.
Still temperature's rising and my porched lips crask
As I scream through the dark.
Though it must be daylight there is but the blue flame,
The miasma that perbates the air.
Live has left these limbs, still they are shaking
But finally won't bleed anymore.
There's buboes, some bloody, some black or even livid,
The infallible token of approaching death.
This nauseating stench of putrefying matter
Tells me that He is to come.

How much longer, oh Lord, will you keep me waiting?
Oh Lord, when will you take me home?

Outside the others, producing this sweet smell,
They have seen the blue flame.
Our shack was boarded up the other day and I wait
For them to come with the torches.
Still fire won't wipe out what was brought to us
From war-wanton heroes and creatures of hell!
There's no escape for me,
The cold creeps deep into my heart.
But all is no matter for I shall not rise anymore.

How much longer, oh Lord, will you keep me waiting?
Oh Lord, when will you take me home?

Beyond these walls there is hell
Where there once was my bloom.
Human and animal remains lost in the winter mud.
The piles of corpses rot - 
Since long they don't burn anymore.
Though, who should put them on fire
When there's not left one soul?

How much longer, oh Lord, will you keep me waiting?
Lord, when will you take me home with you?
