To Thee I Give an Orchid

I give thee an orchid 
And a rose in blood 
Thorns piercing my flesh 
From pain grows love 

I give you my heart 
My body, my soul 
I smile as you thrive 
I wither, grow old 

I met you in a valley 
Soon ravaged by a flood 
While drowning and dying 
Came your hand from above 

Fragile and broken 
For you I stayed strong 
I ascended the mountain 
to pick this orchid, my love 

I descended from the mountain 
To see you standing here 
In the arms of a stranger 
Claiming what I hold dear 

Legs start to buckle 
As the will leaves my flesh 
Facing shame and failure 
I succumb and begin to rest 

The once flooded valley 
Where I now lie 
field full of orchids 
And my bones, now dry
