I met a man called Charlie one day
His gray eyes got so much to say
Old enough to see the World War,
And have the wisdom of the Savior

The course of his life, if I may

He grows up like a wolf cub, alone
And his heart he feels like from stone
Fistfights, lies broken in his bed
Then one day sees a girl in red
And he falls in love right away
Together they promise to stay

But thunder strikes and Charlie gotta leave his home,
Gotta leave his home
There’s war to fight in and she stays alone,
Stays alone, Christine stays alone
And then he’s headed straight to Berlin
Thinking he’ll never see her again, oh Christine!

He has to pay the price
And he is wounded twice
But still he stays alive
Christine is on his mind, she saves him

He gets back from Berlin
He tries to find Christine
He learns that she has left the city
So, he is looking for her

There’s nobody in their old house
And nobody knows her whereabouts
He sets on the road to find out
Should he go or just stay left out?
Cannot wait so he walks out
Gotta find hope till it fades out
When everything around is wiped-out
And everybody’s down in the hideouts

And summer nights meet Charlie looking for his home
Looking for his home, looking for his home,
Where she is alright but he’s still alone
Still alone, Charlie’s still alone
He’s running fighting for his sacred dream
Sacred dream to stay forever with his Queen
But we get back now from this scene
Charlie is looking at me, telling me
That people break, 
Don’t let your love ones slip away cause

Finally,
He’d found Christine, that’s right
But the week after he’d found her
Christine died
