it's the last day of the season

The servant stands and brings the food
The peace and calm the rest will do
So near the sea and spray
The city falls away
The sun the sea the salty air

And the pretzels and the custard
And the girls the pranks the mustard
And the tanning and the lotion
And the pier the beer the ocean
 
And the oysters and the pickles
And the nachos and the steamers
It's a little slice of heaven by the sea
 
What a treat to get away
From the frantic and the fray
All the fluster and the fuss
 
To this blessed little beach
Far beyond the city's reach

From the city's wild excess
