Viva Hate — это дебютный сольный альбом Morrissey, выпущенный 22 марта 1988 года. Альбом был выпущен примерно через полгода после последнего The Smiths — Strangeways, Here We Come. Альбом был спрдюссирован Stephen Street и большиство аранжировок были в исполнении Vini Reilly из The Durutti Column. Отличительный стиль Райли явно чувствуется на протяжении всего альбома, особенно в таких треках, как "Late Night, Maudlin Street" и "Bengali In Platforms". Запись остаётся одной из его наиболее известных и была удостоена Золота от RIAA 16 ноября 1993 года.
